Bonfires ... PLEASE make sure you are not inadvertently killing hedgehogs and other wildlife

This is a 'Public Service Announcement' on behalf of our good prickly friends ... PLEASE - PLEASE - PLEASE ... if you are going to be out having bonfire-fun over the weekend ... PLEASE make sure you are not inadvertently killing hedgehogs and other wildlife.

If you are having a bonfire, try and build it on the day you burn. If it has to be built in advance, check underneath before lighting - levering it up with the blunt end of a rake ... and if it is monumental and you cannot do that - at least light it from just one side.

Hedgehogs do not have a fight or flight response - this makes them particularly vulnerable - but at least lighting from one side gives them a chance.  read more »

Angarrack is proud to announce that after the successful fundraising Angarrack now has a defibrillator available 24/7 for public access. It's on the wall outside the Angarrack Inn on the Steamers Hill side of the pub.

You don't need special training to use it as the machine and 999 ambulance service will talk you through what to do (though training will help make you more familar with the machine and CPR compressions)

Restart a Heart

The availability of defibrillators can help to save lives.

A defibrillator is a device used to give an electric shock to help restart a patient’s heart when they are in cardiac arrest. When someone suffers a cardiac arrest the heart stops and blood is no longer being pumped around their body. The longer they go without emergency life-support, the harder it is to restart their heart. This is where you and your community, organisation or business could make a difference.
