The latest update on the Government’s coronavirus cluster map shows eight new clusters in Cornwall.

The updated map, which shows areas where there is a cluster of three or more cases, shows the data for September 25 to October 1. Areas with fewer than three cases do not show on the map.

There were 26 new positive tests reported in Cornwall today, October 5.

Eight new areas have appeared on the map in the past 24 hours. These areas are: Lostwithiel and Penwithick; Launceston; Altarnun and Stoke Climsland; Shortlanesend, Chacewater and Carnon Downs; Penryn; Probus and Roseland; St German’s and St Mellion; and St Day and Lanner.

There are existing coronavirus clusters still reported in The Lizard, Camborne West, Camborne East, Camborne South, Illogan and Portreath, Pool and Illogan Highway, Redruth North, Redruth South, Kingsand, Antony and Maryfield, Lanreath, Pelynt and Polraun, St Columb Minor and Porth as well as Saltash Town and Pillmere.

Eight cluster areas are also no longer on the map, meaning cases in those areas are now fewer than three. The areas no longer on the map are Penzance Quay, Falmouth North, Bodmin West, Roche and Goss Moor, Newquay East, Penzance North and Perranporth, St Agnes and Mount Hawke and Goonhavern.

It is not known if the surge in clusters is connected to the revelation that thousands of cases were unreported due to technical issues.
