Hayle is Awarded ‘Plastic Free Communities’ Status as it Takes Action on Single-Use Plastic

Hayle has joined a network of communities across the UK who are leading the way to tackle throw away plastic at source. The town has been awarded Plastic Free Community status by marine conservation charity, Surfers Against Sewage (SAS), in recognition of the work it has done to start reducing the impact of single-use plastic on the environment.  read more »

200201 | New Enterprise Helping Hayle's Plastic Free Status Sharon Joslin

NEW ENTERPRISE HELPING HAYLE'S PLASTIC FREE STATUS

Sharon Joslin has started Eco Makers Markets at venues in West Cornwall including Passmore Edwards Institute. All traders are making products ethically with minimal impact on the environment and avoiding the use of plastics and man-made fibres. The first two Eco Makers Markets in Passmore Edwards in November and Jubilee Pool in Penzance in December were well attended by traders and customers. People commented how nice it was to be part of a community of like-minded individuals. Items being sold included recycled Cashmere accessories, local pottery, reworked clothing, toiletries, lighting and jewellery together with vegan chocolate. There were knitted goods from fleece to completed garment, weaving and much more.  read more »
