DOWN YOUR WAY - HAYLE
Column for January 5 2016
OLD CORNWALL:
This Friday January 6 2017 at the Passmore Edwards Hayle is the social evening, from 7.30pm onwards. Come along and enjoy good company and bring any unwanted Christmas presents for the raffle. Members will bring a little food, and there will be teas and coffee. Invited along is the Mayor of Hayle.
CORNWALL COUNCIL:
Hayle is represented by two Cornwall councillors and both are always eager to hear from residents. John Coombe is on Hayle 752831.You can contact John Pollard on 07967272808. The next monthly surgery will be on Saturday January 7 2017 between 10am and 12noon and thereafter, as usual, on the first Saturday each month at the Hayle One Stop Shop, Hayle Library, Commercial Road.
HAYLE FILM CLUB:
Saturday, January 14: Hunt for the Wilderpeople, at 7.30pm.
The opening film of the spring season is an adventure-comedy-drama from New Zealand director Taika Waititi (of What We Do in the Shadows). This offbeat story of a pudgy would-be gangsta kid (new face Julian Dennison) hiding from social services in the wilds with a very reluctant foster father (a lovely turn from NZ native Sam Neill) is funny, bittersweet and slightly surreal. 101 min, 12A. As ever, at the Passmore Edwards Institute, house lights down at 7.30pm and home-baked refreshments after. Tickets £5/£4 for members, reserve on 01736 752319.
SINGALONG:
Hayle Friends Children's Hospice South West Christmas Sing a Long would like to send a big thank-you to Jenna of ASDA at Hayle for the support in allowing them to sing at the store. They would also like to thank the many people who came to support them, friends and family, people from local choirs and singers who joined them (while their respective partners shopped) and made many new friends through the singing. The collection was £518.72p.
Little Harbour at Porthpean, a Hospice for children with life limiting illnesses, will benefit from everyone's generosity.
